Moving To New Server

To merge the faxes from two or more servers, follow these steps.

Step 1) Copy the complete ActiveFax\Server\Faxlist directory with all subdirectories from the source system to the destination system.

Step 2) Append the file ActiveFax\Server\Data\Faxlist.dat from the source system to the ActiveFax\Server\Data\Faxlist.dat file on the destination server. You can append the file with the following DOS command:

cd ActiveFaxDest\Server\Data
copy /b ActiveFaxSource\Server\Data\Faxlist.dat+ActiveFaxDest\Server\Data\Faxlist.dat tempfile.dat
copy /b tempfile.dat Faxlist.dat
del tempfile.dat

If you also need to do this for the faxes in the archive, do the same with all .dat files in the ActiveFax\Server\Archiv\Faxlist directory.

Before you copy any of the files, make sure to create a backup of all files, to avoid loss of data if there is a problem copying the files. You should also take care that both fax servers are stopped when you copy the files.
