Problem with Email

March 18, 2008

Q:
I have a problem regarding ActiveFax server email forwarding. It is showing error messages in delivery. That means delivery failure report.. and also when I click on email it is showing authentication error.

A:
It is important to configure the address of the mail server and authentication in the menu Communication / E-Mail on the fax server in that case. For authentication settings, take care to only enable the option for POP before SMTP authentication if this is required by your mail server (normally it isn’t).

When you configured the mail server, you also need to take care to configure automatic email forwarding for incoming faxes. This can be configured with the menu Extras / User Administrator / Modify / Notification. By default, incoming faxes belong to the Administrator user. To test the email service, I would also recommend to send a normal fax message by email (just enter an email address instead of a fax number for the message).

ActiveFax Server Emailing

December 1, 2007

Q:
I am having a slight issue with my active fax server. When ever we print to the active fax printer for emailing, it is not automatically filling in the sender/email fields for us. We have to manually retype them in, because a window will popup on the activefax pc asking for the information.
Any ideas on how to enable activefax to pick up these fields (email address, contact name, etc) automatically so we do not have to retype the info in?

A:
If you sent Postscript or PDF files, take care that these files do not use compression, because otherwise the data fields included in the print job cannot be detected by the fax server.
