If you want to send a message by fax and by email, you also need to add @F299@ after the @F211 data field to add a second recipient to the message. If you want to automatically remove cover pages for messages sent by email, this can be configured with the menu Communication / E-Mail / Options. To completely remove a default cover page for the message, the data field @F305 None@ can be used.

Q:
One fax line continues to stop receiving incoming faxes, I have to reboot the server in order to make it work again. Our IT Dept stated that there may be a problem with the software. Please advise.
A:
Have you already tried to just stop and restart the fax server instead of rebooting the complete system? If this can only be solved by rebooting the complete system, this sounds like a driver or hardware related problem. What kind of interface are you using with the non-working modem? If the modem is connected through USB or serial interface, I would recommend to try to connect the modem to a different port. When using an internal PCI modem, you can try to install the modem in a different PCI slot and you should also
make sure that the driver of the modem are up to date.
What we can also try to do is to set the parameter ModemEnhancedStartup in the options.cfg file on the fax server. This forces the modem to drop the DTR (data terminal ready) signal after each transmission for 0.5 seconds. More information about the options.cfg file and that parameter is available in the help file of the fax server.

Q:
Is a way to set up ActiveFax, so when a user, who is member of a group named as “NN”, receives a Fax, another user of the same group can check if the fax has been read by the other user?. We have now installed the 4.14 Version on the Server side and 4.10 on the Client side.
A:
By default, when a user reads a fax, the status is set to read for all users. It would also be possible to individually store the read/unread status for each user. This can be activated with the menu Extras /
Options / General / Extended Options / General on the fax server. What you do not see is which users already read a fax and which did not.

Q:
Is there a way I can change the return email address on ACTIVFAX to a “default” email address that is always used regardless of who sends the document?
For example, currently it is set-up with a return address of whoever creates the invoices in the a.m. – I would like the return address to be the person who is sending the document.
If you look below at the highlighted one – The user is AMILL (me) but the email goes out as FGOODYEAR who is the person who created the document way back when.
A:
It is not possible to set a default return email address, but it would be possible to specify a different return email address for each message with the data field @F607 email@domain.com@. That way, the reply-to and the senders email address can be different.

Hi, I’ve installed activefax to one on my customers; he has a us robotics Professional Message Modem wich has the features to receive fax-messages when the pc is powered off; the modem works fine when the pc and activefax are running; when the pc is powered off, the modem correctly receive and store the fax-messages in itself, but then when i switch on the pc with activefax server i’m not able to deploy the fax messages from the modem storage to activefax; is there a way to fix it?
A:
I’m sorry, but receiving faxes with the fax server PC turned off is not supported by ActiveFax, so you always need to have the fax server PC running to receive faxes with ActiveFax.

Does there exist a possibility to make a list of ‘blacklisted’ fax numbers ? A list to where the faxserver never will send faxes, even if a client asks it.
A:
It would be possible to automatically block faxes to certain fax numbers with the menu Communication / Modem / Dialing Properties / Options / Dialing Rules when you add a dialing rule for each number that should be blocked and the option “Sending clearance is required for this number” is enabled. Faxes to such numbers are automatically locked in the faxlist then. The users should also have the permission “Grant sending clearance to other users” revoked in the menu Extras / User Administrator / Modify.

How to dial number that starts with 44? Would you consider giving me a hand or at least some advice based on your experience? Please help me. I really appreciate your help.
A:
What exactly is the problem when dialing numbers that start with 44? Normally such numbers can be dialed the same way as every other number. If you need to automatically dial 44 for all outgoing calls, this can be
configured with the menu Communication / Modem / Modify. If you want to check which number has been dialed by the modem, you can check this in the menu Extras / Transmission Protocol when you scroll to the right to the field “Dialed Number”. This field shows the fax number exactly as dialed by the modem.

I am using ActiveFax server and I want to send a fax with an attachment(.pdf) using data fields.
A:
Attachments can be added with the data field @F702 to a fax. PDF files can however not be directly attached in that case. You first need to print the PDF file to the ActiveFax printer and redirect the printer output to a file. This file can then be used with the data field @F702.

Q:
I’m trying to send a daily fax to numerous/different fax recipients on a scheduled basis. Is this possible? If yes, can you please detail the steps necessary to complete this process? I’ve tried several different methods, none which have worked. Your time and assistance is greatly appreciated.
A:
I recommend to add data fields directly to the document to set the recipients fax numbers (and transmission time, if required). You can find an example for data fields in the Word document at Program
Files\ActiveFax\Server\Sample.doc.

I’m sending a fax from a Unix application using data fields, but it appears with a font size bigger than what I need. Is there any data field or any other clue to specify the font size of a fax you are sending, without
affecting all other fax sent from the application?
A:
You can set the font size with normal PCL (Laserjet) printer commands. You can find an example for that in the file Program Files\ActiveFax\Server\Sample.txt. As an alternative it would also be possible to change the default font size on the fax server with the menu Extras / Printer Emulation / HP Laserjet.
