The activefax program no longer create new months under the archive files for example it last created an automatic file for January 2009 – the one for February and march 200p is not created up to now
A:
I recommend to check the settings in the menu Extras / Options / Archive on the fax server in that case. You also need to take care that the fax server just automatically moves faxes with the status “Sent” or “Read” to the archive. Faxes with a different status are not automatically moved to the archive.

Is it possible to arrange ActiveFax in order to insert automatically a pre-selection code of different telephone companies, before the area code of contacts in the phone book? Thank you
A:
If you always need to dial the same codes, this can be configured with the menu Communication / Modem / Dialing Properties / Options / Billing Codes. If you need to dial individual codes, it would be possible to configure this with the menu Communication / Modem / Least Cost Routing.

Q:
How can we send out a fax WITHOUT a cover page. We need to send multiple pages coming from different files and the cover page prints between each file.
A:
A cover page is normally just added as the first page of a fax when you have a document with multiple pages. If the cover page is added on all pages, I guess you have added it as an overlay. If you have configured a default cover page for a user and want to automatically remove that cover page for some faxes, I would recommend to add the data field @F305 None@ to the document.

Q:
We intend to use ActiveFax with Crystal Reports (ver 9, 10 ,11). Is it possible? How does it work?
A:
Sending faxes from Crystal Reports with ActiveFax would be possible. You just need to print the report directly to the ActiveFax printer in that case. The recipients fax number and other data can be set directly in the report with data fields to automatically send such reports.

Q:
I’d like to know what is the use of the following process : tsclientb.exe. Active fax is currently installed on a windows terminal server 2003 and that process (tsclientb.exe) opens in every terminal server sessions. Id like to prevent that if it is possible.
A:
This process is used to display the fax dialog window when a document is printed to the ActiveFax printer. This is required when working on a terminal server, because there is just a single printer spooler for all terminal sessions, so without that process the fax dialog window would be displayed on the console screen of the terminal server.

Q:
We are using Active Fax with our software program WoodPro to send fax acknowledgements, purchase orders, invoices, etc. We also wish to use to to broadcast fax our weekly special to our customer list (about
300). We tried it, but at 11:00 a.m. it was still on the “C’s” in our customer list, so we had to delete the rest of the batch as it never would have completed in a whole day. Is there a solution for this?
A:
I recommend to create such broadcast faxes with a lower priority, so faxes with normal or high priority are always send before the broadcast faxes. You can change the priority of a fax directly in the fax dialog window when a document is printed to the ActiveFax printer. Adding additional modems to the fax server would also be possible.

Q:
My company recently purchased Active Fax in order to be able to automatically send our purchase orders using fax or Email. We are using the ERP Sage X3 and we make our reports using Crystal Report 10. We have been able to print correctly on the Active Fax printer directly from Crystal Report but not from X3.
It seems that the Active Fax font isn’t recognized by X3 (the printed page shows visible data fields in Times font so Active Fax doesn’t recognize them and doesn’t fill the sending fields automatically). We’ve been trying to make it work by ourselves but we could use a little help.
A:
If the data fields are correctly detected when you print directly from Crystal Reports and it does not work when the document is printed through your ERP software, it seems that the wrong font is used to format the data fields. It would be important to always format data fields with the ActiveFax font in that case.

Q:
I installed demo of activefax server. Now I can send & receive faxes. Received faxes quality is best but when I send faxes to my partners, faxes look like, if I first printed at Epson dot-printer, then fax through simple analog fax. Why is the resolution of faxes so bad? And what do I need to do to improve quality of sending faxes?
A:
Can you please try to send a normal Winword or Wordpad document to the ActiveFax printer and send that document by fax to see if quality is ok with such documents. A possible reason for bad quality could be colors used in the orginal document, so the applications rasters the fax image to simulate colors.

Q:
I’d like to insert a new cover page in the drop-down menu in the ActiveFax dialog window, but I don’t find cover page designer in the menu extras. My version is 4.16. What can I do? Thanks a lot.
A:
This can be done with the menu Extras / Cover Page Designer on the fax server. Take care to always store such cover pages in the fax server main directory (normally Program Files\ActiveFax\Server) to have them available in the drop down list.
